01Who we are

A small service with a long memory

Founded as a living memorial to the area's veterans, the ambulance has been run by neighbors for neighbors for more than 75 years. Today it is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a paid, licensed crew.

Our mission

Our mission is to provide compassionate, high quality emergency medical care and safe transportation to the residents and visitors of Jaffrey, Rindge, and the surrounding communities. Guided by integrity, skill, and a spirit of service, we respond swiftly and treat every person with respect and compassion, ensuring life saving care is available to all, regardless of circumstance or ability to pay.

We are ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in every season. Through New Hampshire winters, ice storms, and nights when the roads are at their worst, a licensed crew and a fully equipped ambulance stand ready to answer the call. We hold ourselves to the standard our patients deserve: current training, careful clinical care, respect for every person we treat, and the discipline to do the job the same way at 03:00 as at noon. We honor the veterans who started this service by serving our towns with the same dedication.

911 response

Advanced and basic life support for medical emergencies and injuries anywhere in Jaffrey and Rindge, plus mutual aid to neighboring towns through the regional mutual aid system.

Critical transport

Transport to the nearest appropriate hospital or to regional trauma, stroke, and cardiac centers, and landing-zone coordination when a patient needs a medical helicopter.

Training

Classes for the community and for new members are being planned.

  5. 2004 to 2005

More runs and stricter training rules end the volunteer era. Paid per-diem and on-call crews take over.

What changes for Rindge on January 1, 2027

The Town of Rindge chose Peterborough Fire & Rescue as its ambulance provider from January 1, 2027. This is what that means for you and what does not change.

Peterborough Fire & Rescue

Always call 911

Nothing changes about how you get help. Dial 911 as you always have. From January 1, dispatch sends a Peterborough ambulance to Rindge, and our crews still respond when asked for mutual aid.

Bills and records for calls before 2027

A bill for a Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance transport in 2026 or earlier still comes from our billing partner, and a request for a patient care report from one of our calls also goes to our billing partner, with a signed release. Both are under Contact.

You are still welcome here

Community events and the station stay open to Rindge residents.

A note of thanks

Crews from this station have answered calls in Rindge for decades, first as volunteers and later as paid providers. To the residents, the fire and police departments, and the town officials who worked alongside us: thank you. We will see you on mutual aid calls and around the Monadnock region.
